I actually started the application process with another counselor for 3 schools in May in preparation for the round 1 deadlines in September. In early July, I found myself panicking – I was struggling to articulate my experiences into a single essay, and what I had written so far sounded forced and superficial. I knew I needed more direction. With none of my essays written and just 2 months to go until the deadline, my friend who was already at business school suggested I reach out to Bryan.
In the MBA essays, it is critical that you show how your personal experiences shape your identity, motivations and actions. Once I started working with Bryan, I saw why he was so good.
First, he tries to get to know you personally and holistically. During our Skype sessions, he would always ask about the link between my experiences and my actions. He gets to know you as a whole person, instead of extracting relevant snippets for the essay. Because he knew me so well, he was able to help me to identify the most formative experiences to include in the essay so that it was more moving and compelling.
Second, his inputs are specific. He was always able to tell me why something wasn’t working, and how I can address the issue. I was never lost or confused about what he was saying, so could go straight into execution mode and iterate my essays.
Last but not least, he is fast and reliable. Without his speedy yet thorough turnovers, I never could have written my essays in such a short amount of time. While this might sound like a hygiene factor, it is so comforting to know that you can trust and rely on him in the most stressful of times, especially when you are also working a full-time job and can only allocate a limited amount of time to applications.
Thanks to him, I was able to submit all of my applications in round 1 and receive offers from 2 of the most competitive schools and was waitlisted by the 3rd. Having spoken with 4-5 counselors (for trial sessions) and worked with another counselor in-depth, I can honestly say that Bryan was the most helpful.
The MBA application process can be daunting and stressful, but Bryan was the perfect partner to navigate through the process. I would highly recommend you reach out to him, and good luck in your applications!
